Veganizing sweets is a skill to be cherished. And more places are starting to invest in creating sweet treats that taste just as good as any other dessert.

Frankie & Jo’s: Seattle’s premier plant-based scoop shop, Frankie & Jo’s has perhaps perfected the art of vegan ice cream. Shown: Chocolate Tahini Supercookie, and Supercookies & Cream (our favorite). Multiple locations (shown: Ballard); 1411 NW 70th St; (206) 257-1676.

Milk Drunk: An offshoot of chef Logan Cox’s Homer, Milk Drunk serves up some of the best non-dairy soft-serve in the city. Texture gets an A+ from us. Flavors run the gamut from Ranier Cherry (shown) to seasonal flavors like Pomegranate Serrano and Pineapple Jasmine. 2805 Beacon Ave S;  (206) 535-7148.

Mainstay Provisions: Is this the best brownie in the city? We think so. The double-chocolate salted caramel brownie at this all-day cafe and specialty market doesn’t taste vegan in the least. Five stars. Multiple locations (shown: Ballard); 612 NW 65th St; (206) 659-0170.

Single Shot: A cross between Key lime pie and cheesecake, this decadent dessert is made with a date crust topped with lime curd (tofu and coconut cream) and pecans. Don’t miss this while it’s on the menu! 611 Summit Ave E; (206) 420-2238.

Cinnaholic: This may appear to be a late-night stop after you’ve been on a bender, but trust these cinnamon rolls are to die for, any time of day. The build your own cinnamon roll is where it’s at, like this monstrosity that includes peanut butter frosting, a scoop of cookie dough, chocolate chips, peanut butter cups, and chocolate sauce. And the entire shop is plant-based, so go crazy! 816 E Pike St; (206) 922-3253.

Paper Cake Shop: Chef Rachel Yang’s new sweet shop (in partnership with Gabby Park of Saint Bread) offers slices of decadent cake in the afternoon through evening, which helps normalize eating dessert before dinner. There is always one plant-based option, such as the Peanut Butter Toast: coconut cake, pecan caramel, and peanut butter buttercream. After a slice of this, you won’t need dinner. Oh, and it’s gluten-free, too! 4106 Stone Way N #102;  (206) 690-0202.

Salt & Straw: When you’re craving an ooey-gooey ice cream packed with flavors from your childhood, head here. Salt & Straw has several vegan flavors on its menu, but if indulgence is your mission, you’ll want something like this Peanut Butter Brittle Caramel Fudge that just about fills any sugary desire you could possibly have. Multiple locations (shown: Capitol Hill); 714 E Pike St Suite A; (206) 258-4574.

Hot Cakes: The signature gooey brownie molten cake isn’t the only vegan option on the menu of this dessert destination. Several of the Warm Cookies & Ice Cream options are vegan, such as The Other Chocolate Cookie topped with vegan vanilla ice cream and vegan dry-burned caramel sauce. (There’s a $1 charge for the vegan ice cream, and the caramel sauce is automatically veganized if it’s clear you’re ordering a vegan dessert.) You can also shell out an extra dollar for vegan toppings, like candied peanuts (shown) and salty toasted cashews. Multiple locations (shown: Ballard); 5427 Ballard Ave NW; (206) 453-3792.

Dough Joy: Any of Dough Joy’s vegan doughnuts will quash that sweet tooth. The all plant-based menu ranges from classics like maple bars and apple fritters, to unusual flavors such as Strawberry Milkshake, Everything but the Bagel, and Vanilla Biscoff (shown) a yeast doughnut topped with vanilla icing and Biscoff cookie crumble. It’s a crowd favorite! Multiple locations (shown: West Seattle); 4310 SW Oregon St;  (206) 453-5658.
