Peloton Cafe: These are easily some of the best vegan breakfast sandwiches around. With an entire vegan section on its menu, Peloton doesn’t skimp with its plant-based dishes, including the popular Loaded Vegan Breakfast sandwich: hash browns, avocado, tomato, red onions, arugula, aioli, tofu bacon, and a lemon tahini sauce on toasted ciabatta. The Vegan Hot Mess with Just Egg, sausage, hash brown patty, cheese, bbq sauce, and crispy fried onions on sourdough is (nearly) just as good. 1224 E Jefferson St; (206) 569-4265.
Cloud City Coffee: What may be the best deal in town, you can grab a really good breakfast sandwich with Just Egg, sausage, and cheese on an English muffin for less than $8 at this Maple Leaf hot spot. For an extra $2, you can add avocado. And for $.45/ea, you can add some Mama Lil’s peppers, tomato, and some spinach, too! 8801 Roosevelt Way NE; (206) 527-5552.
Tailwind: Tucked away inside the Good Weather bike shop in Chophouse Row, Tailwind’s tagline is “surprisingly good,” and it is. The tiny little nook of a cafe offers breakfast, lunch, happy hour, beer and wine with both indoor and outdoor seating. Not only do they claim to have “the best avocado toast in the city,” they have a vegan breakfast sandwich with Just Egg, Beyond sausage, arugula and sambal vegan aioli on an English muffin. It’s a cute place to grab a quick and satisfying breakfast. 1424 11th Ave; (206) 466-3663.
Honest Biscuits: You won’t find it listed on their online menu, but this bustling counter operation in Pike Place Market, next to Old Stove Brewing, has a vegan sandwich on its menu. (Can you call a sandwich on a biscuit a breakfast sandwich? Sure, why not.) The Vegan Sandwich, as it’s cleverly called, is layered with wild mushroom Field Roast, Chao vegan cheese, pickled onion, arugula and stout mustard on a vegan biscuit. Once you try this buttery, flaky biscuit, you’ll never want to eat another breakfast sandwich on bread again. 1901 Western Ave Suite E; (206) 682-7179.
Lazy Cow: This traditional breakfast sandwich with egg, sausage and cheese may look Plain Jane, but there is a secret ingredient that makes this sandwich sing: JALAPEÑO JELLY!! That’s right. It’s so good, we recommend asking for extra. 3418 Fremont Ave N; (206) 922-3706.
Plantiful: It’s fitting that this fast-casual spot feels like eating inside a ZoomCare. Its philosophy is, “Let food is thy medicine and medicine is thy food.” And while you may not expect good food to come out of this food pharmacy, the breakfast sandwich is…impressive. The Bacon, Cheddar, & Egg sandwich consists of Just Egg, vegan bacon and cheese, atop a ciabatta bun. Add-ons include sausage, extra bacon, cheese, egg, and avocado. (You can also add sriracha, shown, for no extra charge.) This is easily one of our new favorites. Multiple locations (shown: SLU); 340 Westlake Ave N; (206) 547-2144.
Blazing Bagels: Blazing Bagels wins the award for “Breakfast Sandwich with the Most Potential.” Served on a bagel of your choice (shown: pretzel), the vegan breakfast sandwich is stacked with Just Egg, Impossible sausage, and cheddar. Add-ons include avocado and vegan cream cheese (shown), among a ton of other things. It’s really tasty, but even though it comes “toasted,” that term is generous; the sandwiches are barely lukewarm. Melted cheese and a nice, toasted bagel would go a long way, making it nearly perfect. Pro tip: ask for your breakfast sandwich to come *extra* heated. That should do the trick. Multiple locations (shown: SODO); 1911 1st Ave S; (206) 682-1144.
Pinoyshki: Formerly Piroshki on 3rd, the new expansive location inside the Pike Motorworks apartment complex on Capitol Hill still offers its popular breakfast piroshki (egg, spicy sausage, spinach, mushrooms, and tomatoes), which we highlighted in our Seattle’s Best Vegan-Friendly Bakeries guide. Unfortunately, they’ve been having issues sourcing Just Egg, so the piroshki’s availability is hit-or-miss. If you want to get your hands on one, it’s best to call early and have them set one aside for you. 715 E Pine St; (206) 322-2820.
Plum Chopped: Located right next door to Plum Bistro, Chopped offers a large selection of plant-based foods available to-go, which you’ll need to order online, including their Good Morning Goodness that is bursting with chorizo, cheese, egg, spinach, and chipotle aioli on an everything bagel. This might be the most flavorful breakfast sandwich in Seattle, but beware, it sure is messy to eat. The ground chorizo has a habit of falling out with each bite, much like a loaded taco, so make sure not to try and eat this thing in your car. 1419 12th Ave; (206) 402-6861.
Life on Mars: So far, LOM has yet to disappoint. It has one of Seattle’s Best Vegan Sandwiches, so it’s no surprise it has one of the city’s best vegan breakfast sandwiches. The Bad Wolf is a sausage patty, Just Egg, provolone, and spicy aioli on a grilled roll. And when I say it tastes like one of the best vegan cheeseburgers you’ve ever had, I mean it. The only downside is that you’re going to want to devour this thing, but it is served piping hot, so watch your mouth. 722 E Pike St; (206) 323-9166.
The Wayward Vegan: When you eat this for breakfast, who needs lunch? The Good Morning Sandwich at this vegan mecca is a bountiful mountain of cheddar, sausage, tempeh, Just Egg, tomato, and chipotle ranch on toasted sourdough. And it’s as satisfying as it looks. The Wayward Vegan also has several other breakfast sandwiches on its menu, including their version of a McMuffin and a Good Morning Crunchwrap. 801 NE 65th St Suite C; (206) 524-0204.
